Confidentiality & Privacy Policy for Judy Vartelas, LCSW
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.

Facebook Page Disclaimer:
Judy has a business Facebook page. Judy periodically post articles and information from herself and a wide variety of others in the field.

If you interact with any item on this page, or the page itself your name can be read by anyone using Facebook, In short your name cannot and will not be 100% confidential should you choose to interact with Judy’s Facebook Page.

This includes:
*If you “Like” Judy’s page, which will cause your name to be listed under people who like the page.

She has friends and colleagues who also like the page so it would be difficult to know who is a client and who is not.

*If you “Like” or post a response to something Judy has posted, your nameĀ  will show up in association with the comment/”like” on the Facebook page.

It is important to note that when coming to her office all the above confidentiality and privacy policy listed still applies by law.
